Gracie Creek Pond is a two-surface acre cold water trout pond located on Gracie Creek just northwest of Calamus Reservoir. The pond is contained wholly within U.S. Bureau of Reclamation property and is within the Calamus Reservoir WMA. Gracie Creek Pond is subject to sedimentation problems from the Gracie Creek watershed and has suffered damage from major flooding in 2010 and 2019. The 2019 flooding resulted in an estimated 30,000 cubic yards of sediment being deposited in the reservoir.
TFG was tasked with conducting a field investigation and survey (topographic and bathymetric), shoreline delineation, estimation of existing sediment load, identification of spoil location(s), identification of potential mitigation measures, engineering design, and construction management services. Considerations included protection of State Highway 92 which serves as the “dam” for the pond.
TFG was also tasked with environmental permitting and compliance and identifying and applying for permits and coordinating associated review periods for the project. Environmental compliance review included Threatened and Endangered Species, and Wetlands. Agency coordination included USBOR, NGPC, USFWS, FEMA and USACE. This project included federal and local funding programs and partners with a total construction budget of just over $600,000.
