TFG was hired by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Center for Grassland Studies to develop a master plan for the environs near Nine-Mile Prairie on the northwest edge of Lincoln, Nebraska. TFG developed a methodology for desktop and field level investigation/evaluation of sensitive biological resources within the approximate 30 square-mile planning area. The project:
- Utilized spatial analysis with data inputs for habitat diversity and connectivity to refine planning area boundary
- Looked for opportunities to maintain and enhance ecological integrity, biological diversity, and decrease impacts of habitat fragmentation
- Reviewed considerations for native prairie protection, land management strategies for Nine-Mile Prairie and surroundings and considered funding strategies for management and possible land acquisition in the environs
