About The Flatwater Group

The Flatwater Group (TFG) specializes in restoration design, water resources, planning, and environmental engineering. TFG was founded and organized on the principles of flexible client services coupled with creative solutions, and we strive to produce a successful product not just for our clients but with our clients.

The quality of TFG’s professional services is excellent and our status under management ownership has brought an unequalled level of effort and commitment to our product, from proposal to project completion.

Our activity and interest in water resources projects can be seen in our ability to provide comprehensive analysis of specific project needs while maintaining a larger perspective of programs as a whole. We feel that overall program understanding is crucial to the success of funding, designing and implementing specific project plans.

Because of our experience and activity in restoration projects, TFG routinely reviews and evaluates completed restoration projects throughout the region, including TFG and other’s design projects, in order to maintain a broad level of understanding of adopted design techniques. This exercise not only adds to our “tool box” of design methods, but it also helps our team understand what works — and, of equal importance, what doesn’t work — for specific situations. Our design process allows us to adapt to changing situations and conditions and continually evaluate and update our pallet of solutions.

About Our Name

Ni (water) + bthaska (flat)

The state of Nebraska’s name is derived from an Omaha Native American name meaning “flat water.” The name was given by the Omaha to the Platte River because it is a broad, shallow body of water.

Founded in 2000, The Flatwater Group adopted this name to illustrate our commitment to protect water as a natural resource and to provide broad based solutions to water issues with local knowledge and expertise.
